When you wake in the morning do you dread the day ahead? How do you contribute in the world, your purpose, and have you ever asked yourself what really is your job?
I’ve been thinking about this one lately…what do I consider my job versus what do I consider my purpose. I do believe in my case the two are intertwined but really when it comes to my job it’s this.
My job is to be a role model for my children. My greatest job is to be the person I believe they will look to as an example.
I do everything with great intention. I decide and strategize in my life, I have given up impulsivity as it has not worked for me very well in the past.
With my new discernment, I have been making a list of the qualities I hope to portray on a daily basis that will lead to the outcome of having done a ‘good job’ in being a role model for my children.
This is what I consider to be important in my intentional role modeling –
- Strong morality — showing through my behavior the difference between right and wrong
- Showing respect
- Attitude of optimism
- Strong work ethic
- Passion and the ability to inspire
- Knowing and living according to my values
I am a work in progress, I have a long way to go but behind my intention is a very healthy motivation to be the best me I can be.
Alongside this, I try to be my authentic self with my children. One day I will be 6 feet under and I want them to know deep in their heart that they knew the ‘real’ me. Not the mother I tried to be, but the real me, the highs, the lows, and the intentions and unconditional love I felt for them.
What is your job? It’s not your paycheck and it’s not how you spend your time…your job is what YOU choose it to be. The IMPACT you have on the people around you…you get to influence this every day…
