Food Wastage!

Is anyone else horrified by the food wastage since this pandemic! This is NOT a new issue. It’s predicted that 40% of the produce grown in the USA is dumped and this statistic has only increased since the ‘plandemic’ started. This is just INFURIATING!

World hunger is still one of the greatest contributors to child death globally and yet we cannot get on top of the supply chains and distribution of such a basic need. It’s 2020, how is this acceptable?

Those who are WOKE to this global situation I know feel as sad, disgusted, and live in as much disbelief as I do around such a basic human need. The reality we all face is that the deep underdogs that drive politics, the economy, health care, and food are one and the same. Despite this I do believe we have a role to play and that we can make a difference in our own way.

Here are 3 ways I believe we can empower ourselves despite the realities of food wastage and shortage:

1. Knowledge is power, it has NEVER been more essential to read, listen and wake up to the global and political agendas and how they affect what you have access to and the prices you pay for food. 2. Support local! Whether it’s raw produce or your entertainment budget (yeah I know, much reduced for those of us in lockdown) you can find and source locavore restaurants, farmers markets, and supply chains. Most major cities in the world have organic co-ops and food supply groups you can join and barter with so that you all can contribute to greater affordability, greater nutrient availability and crop rotation, and most importantly less waste.
